The Abbe condenser and iris diaphragm are supplied to concentrate and adjust for more or less illumination. A mechanical stage is standard equipment with knobs controlling both axes for easy centering of specimen slides. Other features include 10x and 12.5x eyepieces, 4x, 10x, and 40x objective lenses, fully-coated glass optics, all-metal body with monocular head, five prepared slides, and coarse and fine focusing knobs.

I was pleasantly surprised when the Celestron 44104 arrived. I have not used a microscope since high school biology. I had always wanted to have a microscope, but could never justify the cost. This year, while purchasing presents for others, I decided to buy this for me.

I am glad I did. This instrument is a good quality ‘heavy’ type of device and comes with the electric illumination device. Funny, I did well with just the included mirror light up the slides.

To save money, check out the Celestron 44102. As near as I can tell, that is this model minus = 12.5x eye piece, blue filter, and the AC light thing.

I just received my 44202 stereo microscope. It’s just amazing. You can use it from the very first minute. If you want you can see one of the prepared slides right out the box, or any of the familiar objects at home, and you will discover a fascinating new world, hidden from your eyes.
My kids and I have used it to see a lot of bugs, spiders, flies, flowers, etc. The x20 factor is the best for 3-D viewing, while the x40 factor is best suited for flat, smaller objects like slides, stamps or similar.
The controls operate very well and allow an excellent level of command.
I have found that this microscope is solid, stable and easy to set-up.
